"Should I write the scene" she asks. MA'AM. Consider this me clamoring. I also would not say no to a list of all melancholy holiday faves....At this point I won't even finish a "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" if there's a shining star on a highest bough, lol

That song WRECKS me. Especially Phoebe Bridgers' version. And okay I think I am going to try to write the scene!!!

You don't have to do anything with it if you don't want to! It could just exist!

Seconding the request for the flashback scene with Lauren and Asa under the mistletoe! What you gave us in the book is probably enough, but I always want more when it comes to the fictional couples I love most.

I'm so glad that I read this book so recently and have all of these scenes fresh in my mind so the songs can provide an extra layer of subtext. There are a lot of great covers of "Last Christmas," but I'm with Asa that the original by Wham! is the definitive version, especially the Pudding Mix that spreads our the goodness for an even longer period of time.

Great list! If only we debated what constitutes a Christmas song as fiercely as we argue over what counts as a Christmas movie (cough cough Die Hard). One of my personal favorites is almost an anti-Christmas song: Tim Minchin’s “White Wine in the Sun” . You can find a great live version on YouTube and if you’re unfamiliar with the lyrics you should look them up-wonderful!

I will definitely check it out!! Your comment got me trying to think of a non-Christmas song that I kinda think of as a Christmas song. This is probably cheating because Phoebe Bridgers' melancholy always fits for me around this season, and she's done lots of versions of Christmas songs that are my favorite, but I also think of her song "Savior Complex" as a Christmas song for some reason even though it has no connection at all.
